When you think of the big changes and disruptors in the new data center of today and tomorrow, Open Source software and Flash storage are two major forces that come to mind. What better place to bring the two together than at the Linux Conference for North America. It is one of the best places to create collaboration, have open minded conversations and move the needle on the new data center.
SanDisk® is proud to be a sponsor of the show and to be part of this amazing community. Here are some ways you can meet and engage with our Open Source office, developers, SW architects and Open Source Legal team.
Visit SanDisk in Booth #311
SanDisk invites you to visit our booth as we highlight how Flash and Open Source work together to unleash higher value for workloads in the data center.
The SanDisk team will share how we are engaged in the Open Source community, especially in transforming a flash-optimized data center to deliver significant business value.
Flash combined with Open Source software such as Ceph enable:
- Performance with Scale
- Energy Efficiency
- Compact Form
- Reduced COO
- New Workloads

At-Scale Data Centers and the Demand for New Storage Architectures
Monday, August 17
Time: 4:20pm – 5:10p.m. PDT
Best practices of large-scale data centers are changing the way that storage is being built and delivered. New Date:
technologies such as storage over converged networking infrastructure, heterogeneous replication strategies, scalable object storage and low-cost enterprise grade flash memory are experiencing rapid adoption in the market place. These new technologies place new and heavier demands on kernel and storage management software which must evolve to meet these needs.
Speaker: Allen Samuels, Engineering Fellow

SCST, a SCSI Target Framework
Date: Wednesday, August 19
Time: 3:00pm – 3:50pm
SCST is an advanced SCSI target software stack for Linux systems. The SCST software transforms a commodity server into a high-end Storage Area Network (SAN). SCST supports multiple SCSI protocols (iSCSI, FC, FCoE, SRP, iSER,…), multiple local storage interfaces (SCSI pass-through, block I/O and file I/O) and also storage drivers implemented in user-space via the scst_user driver. It is the basis of several other Open Source projects, e.g. Openfiler and Enterprise Storage OS. During this talk we will explain why this project is useful, how to use SCST and which new features have been added recently. Additionally, more information will be provided about support in SCST for scsi-mq and also about the initiative to evolve towards a single Linux SCSI target stack.
Speaker: Bart Van Assche, Sr. Staff SW Dev. Engineer and SRP initiator kernel maintainer
